live

Japanese:

A few days ago when my friends and I went shopping, we stopped to watch a live performance going on.
I went with 2 of my best friends, and one of them had never seen a live before even though she loooooves music. But when she heard it she was impressed and said "Hearing it live is really different, I want to go more!"
I dont know if it was their their good songs, seeing them work hard, or the people having fun around them, but all 3 of us instantly became their fans.

A live performance is so different than a CD, and you have to be there to experience it, so I want more people to have a chance to experience it especially if they are deaf.

Assoc. Professor Satoshi Fukushima

Japanese:

English:

Today I went to Tokyo University to learn about the circumstance for deaf kids from a director. There i was introduced to Satoshi Fukushima.

Assoc. Professor Fukushima is both blind and deaf. I was amazing when he used finger Braille for communication. By using the 3 middle fingers on both hands, he would feel by the patterns pressed on his fingers, what letters are translated to him. There was a finger Braille translator who translated what I said as I spoke and he understood by the touch of his fingers and then responded by himself, so we were able to causally talk. Mr. Fukushima was the one to invent the system of finger Braille. Even if a person is blind and deaf, i learned that theyre are many ways of communicating. He was so cool!

For people who travel on aircraft a lot and have ear problems, there is a special surgery that takes away the pain.

They place a small tube in the eardrum which takes out all the air.
They numb it so it doesnt hurt! The tube comes out on its own in about 6 months.

It's so interesting!

Summit/ECO

Japanese:

Hokkaido Toyako Summit begins this week in Japan!
During the Summit, 8 Presidents come together to discuss about the world.
One of this years big themes is ecology.

When I was walking around I saw lots of cups lined together. I wondered what it was and it turned out to be cups for kids to draw on, then put a candle in, to show people the importance of electricity. I participated in this. Its a waste to use more electricity that needed, so let's all be careful~

When I went shopping at a department, I saw a statue of a dog. I wondered what is was and looked at it. It turned out to be money to raise dogs that help deaf and blind people.

I also donated money. I hope many dogs can help many people.
